As of 2026, BPC-157 is not an FDA-approved drug and compounded versions are not FDA-approved. An FDA compounding advisory committee reviewed BPC-157, KPV and TB-500 in 2026, but a committee recommendation is not FDA approval — and these peptides remain on the WADA prohibited list.

It is not FDA-approved

BPC-157 is not an FDA-approved drug, and compounded versions are not FDA-approved either. The FDA has stated that compounded BPC-157 has limited safety information available and may present safety risks.

That is the single most important fact, and it hasn't changed: no version of this is an approved medicine.

The 2026 compounding review

In 2026 the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee took up BPC-157, KPV and TB-500-related substances in the context of the 503A Bulks List — the list of ingredients pharmacies may compound from.

Important: an advisory committee recommendation is NOT the same as FDA approval, and a vote does not automatically place a substance on the final list. This is a moving area — confirm the current status before relying on it.

Anti-doping status

Separately from the FDA question, BPC-157, TB-4/TB-500 and MGF appear on the WADA prohibited list. That is about competition, not legality, but it matters enormously if you're tested.

If you compete under any tested body, treat this as a hard stop until you've spoken to your compliance people.
